Sea Cucumbers are marine animals found on the sea floor. Their body shape is similar to a cucumber, hence the name. Sea cucumbers are very low in calories and fat but high in protein, making them a friendly food for losing weight. In addition, they contain powerful substances, including antioxidants, DHA, etc which are essential for good health. It is often consumed to help boost the immune system.
Sea Cucumbers have been used as a food source and as a medicinal ingredient in Asian and Middle Eastern countries for centuries. Highly valued due to its scarcity, it is one of the four treasures in Chinese cuisine. Sea cucumbers can generally be eaten raw, pickled, braised or used in soups.
This NZ Sea Cucumber is wild caught and comes from the pristine waters of New Zealand. It is harvested in a sustainable way, and is endorsed by the NZ Government. This species of sea cucumber comes in light yellow-brown to dark brown colours.
